What is a BIA? (And Why You Need One?)

If you’ve ever ridden the emotional roller coaster of obsessing over the scale, you’re not alone!

After nearly 15 years in the fitness industry, our Boston personal trainers can assure you that this is a common source of stress for a lot of people.

What you may be surprised to learn is weighing yourself habitually is limiting because not all pounds are the same.

The truth is…your body is made of many components that can’t be seen by the scale.

Stepping onto the scale and seeing a number doesn’t tell you anything about what you’re made of (i.e. muscle, fat, etc).

Plus, your scale weight can fluctuate more than the stock market for a variety of reasons (carb & sodium intake, hydration status, sweat, bowel movements or lack thereof, hormones, and more)

if you want to “tone up” and drop a few pant sizes to fit into your favorite clothes, your real aim is to improve your body composition=changing your ratio of fat mass to lean mass.

INTRODUCING THE BIA SOLUTION

Instead of relying on the scale to track our clients’ physical progress, our Boston personal trainers use a unique device at our fitness center called a BIA which is one of THE most accurate ways to measure your body composition (muscle vs fat).

In less than 30 seconds, the BIA tells our personal training team with precision your body’s balance of muscle, water, and fat to give an accurate look at your overall health from the inside out.

Forget the frustration of counting pounds because you can now track your personal progress in a way that really counts.

The best part…this quick test enables our personal trainers to design personalized nutrition and training programs that ensure you get real, lasting results.

How to test for the best results

The AUMazing BIA Assessment is easy to use and much smarter than the scale.

To make sure that you receive the most accurate results, follow these few simple tips:

-Take the test in the morning

-Do not eat or exercise before testing

-Use the bathroom before taking the test

-Drink 8-10 ounces of water before testing

-Test under similar conditions every time for a precise picture of progress

With a detailed report, our personal training team can see how your body is changing and what adjustments you might need to make over time to ensure you reach your goals.

Sometimes you're just a few tweaks away from making significant progress, and the BIA helps us figure out what those tweaks are.

We include monthly body composition monitoring with all of our personal training memberships to help you stay motivated and on track.
