My travels have been a tremendous gift, and these health “secrets” I've learned along the way have significantly impacted my life.
They’ve influenced the way I design customized personal training programs and develop holistic weight loss plans for the members of our fitness center in Boston.
In part three of our three-part series, Health Secrets from Around the World, I share health secrets from my travels to St. Lucia and Hawaii.
People often ask me what keeps me motivated to exercise on a regular basis? The answer: booking 1-2 bucket-list adventures each year that demand strength, endurance, and mental toughness.
This past spring, I was able to check off a bucket list item, hiking the Gros Piton in St. Lucia — a beautiful volcanic mountain with a steep trail to the top. My hike required some serious hustle to keep up with our young 20-year-old guide who flew up the trail while barely breaking a sweat. Fortunately, all my hours of training and exercise paid off, and I was grateful to see the AUMazing view up top.
Fitness has made my life better in so many ways. The reason I became a personal trainer was to fulfill the same wish for our members who are embarking on their own fitness journey. I believe that personal training should expand your life, giving you the energy, strength, and confidence to go on new adventures.
What I love most about being a Boston personal trainer and fitness coach is being able to help people redefine what’s possible and turn back the clock to look and feel years younger.
Healthy Tip: Schedule a physical challenge that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t due to fear, lack of time, etc.. A challenging excursion makes you feel more alive and inspires you to train harder than before.
There’s no place I love more on earth than Hawaii, specifically the island of Kauai. The sheer beauty of this paradise is breathtaking but what I love most is the spirit of the island.
“Mahalo” is a term you’ll hear locals use in conversation commonly to express “thank you.” However, it has a much deeper meaning of being grateful. Hawaiians live in a constant state of thanks, experiencing gratitude for every conversation, every meal, every breath.
There may be nothing more therapeutic and healing than experiencing deep appreciation for the blessings in your life. And the beautiful thing is that there is always something we can be grateful for if we take a moment to pause and reflect.
My time on this AUMazing island taught me that we can live in a beautiful state when we focus our energies on feeling grateful for what we already have. It’s nourishing for our mind, body, and spirit.
Healthy Tip: Take a minute each day to practice a moment of gratitude to improve your mental and physical well being.
